alienation from the self

it's been almost a year since i last wrote a song for death by tampon. it's been over 6 months since i last felt the adrenaline rush of playing music created by 5 equally eccentric grrls to an estrogen-deprived music scene. now, feelings of alienation from an adored aspect of my self are intensified as i listen to the 5 song demo we recorded some ages ago. i never sang along to our songs when i would listen to the demo. i would listen to it technically, agonizing over what was lacking in the recording that failed to give justice to the song, or taking note of how clean (or dirty) the guitar harmonics were in a certain progression. now, i'm listening to our demo like a sixth-party. it's as if i was a band-civilian, singing-along like i would to my favorite songs from foreign bands like pretty girls make graves, but not being a part of the creative process. i felt shivers and goosebumps when i heard the clean guitar lines, eclectic rock grooves & girlish voices and remembered that hey, this is us. i was a part of that, a part of something special and a bit revolutionary (at least here in the realm of our 7,107 tropical islands). and it belongs to us. it's ours, a part of who we are, and no one can take it away, steal or truly imitate it. i also realized that no one can bring it back and give it life but us.

yes, for a time i have been alienated from a part of myself, a part which i adore and wish to revive. but i'm reminded that the music is still there, it's still mine for the taking. it's still there to challenge my creativity, valor and spirit. i can only hope that my comrades, my beloved friends from death by tampon, would still like to join me in reuniting with the self that i lost.

i'm in the mood to draw today.. tagal na ring naging stagnant ang painting at drawing skills ko mula nung nag college ako. palibhasa puro aral at basa at lecheng pagkayod sa math. at least now that i have graduated pwede na uli ma-rekindle ang mga lumang passion. bad trip lang hindi ko mahanap yung book ko ng sketches ni da vinci, gusto ko sana aralin at pag praktisan yung stuff niya dun. oh well, maybe next time.

yahoo! i just finished editing my best friend's blog sa lj. newbie kasi siya so walang gana pa mag blog. so i spiced up her lj for her para ma-enganyo siyang mag hasik ng lagim dito sa lj. grabe tagal ko ginawa kasi hindi ko alam kung ano yung lalabas sa mga strong, stronger, weak accent chuvaneness thingies. kaya naman process of elimination trial and error thingie ginawa ko. haaay! kaloka. at least natapos din. tsaka ko na ii-improve yung color schemes at size ng background pic kasi pagod nako.

hoy sneaker_whore kabisado mo na yung size ng lj background diba? tip naman ng size hehe para di ko na ifigure out. kalawang pa naman ako sa psp6 ko. >_<

neway, nasusuka na ko sa lj for now dahil 2 oras ba naman ako mag figure out ng html shit at kung anu ano pa para lang magpaganda ng blog. tska nag upload pa ako ng pics sa photobucket na 10 million years in the making rin ang drama dahil lolo na iteng pc kech. haaay... at least tumigil na ako sa kakatae. baka mamaya nalang uli.

my dad just arrived from his hiatus in india. he surprised me by bringing me some wooden stamps from india that they use to print henna designs on their bodies. he also brought henna ink as well. coolness. my parents know what will make me happy. aside from that he also brought a box full of accesories--bangles, earrings and necklaces galore. there were some heavy gold-lookin shit that looked fantastic on my dogs. especially jamie. he looks like a regal gay dog. he should be a model for expensive jewelry. now i know my family is eccentric. we buy elaborate fake gold jewelry and gems to put on our dogs and then we take dozens of pictures. and we are ecstatic.

at least i'm lifted from my bored morose mood earlier. i was supposed to go and have my 3 day vacation over at astromancer's but my dad unexpectedly went home this afternoon. i was bummed that i wasn't able to go to astromancers but at least i got some pretty good shiznit from india. now i'm excited for my mom to arrive coz maybe she'll have some clothes as pasalubong to go with my accesories hehe. and i'm excited too coz tomorrow i'll be leaving to go to astromancers. hehe. nothing can stop me tomorrow, i will go no matter what.

gosh i love pasalubongs. and gay dogs. and my boyfriend. hehe.

blast prom da past!

the prom gig (admit one) was amazing. it was so well executed that the air of nostalgia was just inescapable. everyone was in prom attire, there was a disco ball and a dance floor, prom food like punch and pisgetti, even a prom photographer! i really felt like i was back in my high school days--only better, coz now i have emo boy and kick-ass band. ^.^

first, the set: kick ass. i think it was one of the best gigs i've ever played in, if not the best. the audience was great, ang ganda ng pagka timpla ng instruments (courtesy of our ever faithful master techie, ulak), malinis naman yung tugtog, and dbt was particularly at its cutest ever. (prom eh!) there wa something really fun about playing in 80's prom dresses, fishnet stockings, and colorful chucks. plus my light-up tiara was... well, coolness. ^.^ and my friends got to watch as well: ulak, jad, jr, kitty, chesca etc. and of course, my emo boy in prom outfit... sorta.

after set: after set was also fun. jawbreaker staff asked me to do on the spot review on some great cd's. enjoyed that as well. good news too that they're gonna be back in bussiness... watch our for the next issue around december (nyak, tagal pa pala hehe).

romance: ha! ako ang first dance niya ever! woohoo! i-yeah! parang totoo talagang nag prom kami, i really felt like we were prom dates! sigh, my prom prince was so adorable in his ladies blazer (hehe, only you can pull it off huney :p) with a skull pin for his buttonnaire. and we danced... slow dance! to imago's rendition of "take my breath away..." hehe i dunnow the title, basta yun. ^.~ and i even have remembrance: nagpa-prom picture kami ni emo-boy sa photographer dun. astig talaga. this is one gig i won't forget. ^__^
